I've heard that about the Titan pickups as well. Unfortunately EPA mpg ratings are not available since these are all classed as commercial vehicles.
The US Transits are available with Ford's Ecoboost V6, or a V8. I'm pretty impressed with the Ecoboost V6, and I believe there are several people on here who use it for towing. I've been in several of the F series truck that have the Ecoboost V6, and it is definitely very capable.
Don't know much about the tranny, but have never known of Ford trannys being problem prone.
I was very impressed with the overall fit/finish and attention to detail in the Ford--1000X better than the Nissan.
There is a local funeral home that has a low-top Nissan NV for a hearse. I can't quite get that image out of my mind, LOL.
