I talked to a rv repair shop supervisor and asked him the same question. He said either one is a good unit, but he would go with the V10 as the engine and F53 chassis is still in production. The 8.1 was discontinued in 09 as well as the W22 workhorse and has to search wrecking yards for frame parts. They both are good units just up to you.
