A local Freightliner-Cummins-Cat-Detroit Diesel shop had no trouble servicing my bus...despite it not being a Freightliner, nor did it have any of those engines!
You are right, there are some that will take other chassis. And I believe that they should, But the major Freightliner shops like in Gafney I believe they have to be Freightliner. Does not matter what engine because Freightliner will install Cats, Cummins and even Mercedes engines. But I do not believe they would take others chassis.
Local Freightliner shops like the one we have here in Hesperia, Ca they have a big sign that says they will service Cat, Cummins etc etc.
