Fridge door hindge pin broke off

Domentic NDR1292 - it's a two door model that came OE with my Gulfstream 38' DP

Issue is the main door the bottom hindge snapped off. Broke the plastic around where the hinge pin was mounted in the door itself


Fridge is still working and door stays closed, just to open the fridge you take the entire door off.

I can't get a good look at the damage, as we are in the field, and its a heat wave. I'll be home in a week and can work on it then. I am wondering if others have had this issue.

Is this something that will require a new door? I can't see how to fix this

    You may be able to find some long hinges at Home Depot and screw them in (or lock tite) May work.... You may be able to find some with some moderate decor and they'll look nicer.

    Or get the product # (on the out side) and goto PPL Motorhomes to find the item you need.

    I repaired mine with JB WELD as well. Mine has lasted 10 years with this repair.

    The pin screws into the bracket at the bottom and top of the refrigerator. You can get the pins from an RV parts supply store.

    The plastic trim piece can also be purchased.

    I've had to fix mine twice due to bad road bumps causing the door to fly open even though it was latched.

    After reading this post I looked at mine and guess what, the top hinge is breaking loose from the trim piece. Just hoping it will last til we return.

    I JB glued a 2" metal strip with a hole drilled in it for the pivot pin. Pretty sorry plastic POS hinge... like the rest of the unit.

    Just had this same problem last month. I made do until I got home and then had to replace the entire lower door. Save your old door as you will need its cover.

    There are many good glues that can be used that will glue it so it will be better then new. JB weld, Goob glue, Like Ivylog posted to put a strap and apply a good glue, let it set for a couple of days so it will cure good and hard.
