Front Bumper Hitch

How many have put a front bumper hitch on and do you like and use it?

  • Have front receiver frame attached on current and previous truck. It is used for a bike rack. It gets used all winter.

curt makes front hitches specific to the truck frame. The weight capacities are not as high as common rear receivers.

Dick_B +1. Bumper alone won't provide adequate support. Luckily there are commercially made front hitches available. eTrailer shows quite a few.
  • X2 on the front hitch for a bike rack but attached to the undercarriage not the bumper.
  • I put a hitch on the front of our mh to use a bicycle carrier.
  • My friends father did that, it was easier for him to back his trailer in. Depends on your truck and how much tongue weight you have. My rig is in my sig. You can see I don't have much room left to do this so I just back in.
  • I just about did that cause I pull an enclosed trailer with motorcycle inside. I often back that trailer almost a block. Thought it would be so much easier to push it in and see where I am going. Before i got a chance to buy and mount a hitch on the front, I got good enough to back it backward without too much hastle. Decided before I unhooked, turned the motorhome around, and rehooked on the front; I would have it backed in.

Now if you were thinking of hauling something on the front axle to even out the load on the axles, it would be a good idea. I would be careful on what you put into that front carrier that does not block your headlights or air flow to the radiator.
