Thanks for a quick response. I have some experience with Gas v Diesel. I purchased a 2010 40ft Fuzion-toy hauler when it was 6 months old, at a substantial discount, because the owner hated towing it. A huge RV, with a weight of est 14K lbs. The owner towed it with a gas powered Chevy Dually and could not get above 50 MPH and I did not bother to ask his fuel economy. His truck was the delivery vehicle to bring it to me, just before I had a 5th wheel hitch installed in my truck. His truck would not back the RV up the slight incline of my drive, just-no power. I have a 2011 F450 6.7L and THAT RV pulls fine with about 10 MPG. IT IS BIG AND HEAVY - BUT BEAUTIFUL, IN AND OUT! :) Last month, coming back from Galveston with this RV in tow, I looked down at the spedo and discovered I was doing in excess of 70 mph, and promptly slowed down. I also move a D5 Dozer, 19K lbs, and a Track Hoe, 14K lbs. My Ford Diesel runs GREAT.
NOW - I also got a great deal (estate sale) on a 27ft Ford-Freelander motorhome, with a Gas-V10. Poor economy and not much power. This is my 2nd V10 - previously I had a 2004 - 30 ft, with est 8 MPG. I have been in the mountains with both motorhomes, a small trailer and fuel economy is 8 MPG and as I mentioned, poor power.
MY GOAL-I STILL WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT THE FUEL ECONOMY IS ON THE THOR=Super C. Due to the difference in cost of Gas v Diesel, I desire to NOT spend MORE on fuel than I am now, even though Diesel cost more. Also NOTE, I have a 6.7L in my 2011 F450 and love it! Powerful, quiet and will pull anything I have the balls (trailer balls-LOL) to pull.
Generally- IF?...the Super C gets only 20% better economy-then I am in- due to the increased torque, increased towing limit, and/or NEW, etc. Remembering that a 20% increase over the current 8.5 MPG, is only 1.7 improvement, justifying the higher fuel cost and getting a NEW motorhome. :)
