Fuel Gauge

What kdk said was the case with our 04 Ambassador. I had service dept. at dealer install it. It took about 30 min. But it really is a DIY project.

Oh, you are saying the whole panel that contains the fuel filler door swings up - just have to remove a couple of screws down underneath somewhere? That makes total sense. Sounds like on different models it might be on different sides, but this is what I was looking for - where to start!

The sender is located on the top drivers side of the fuel tank. Held in with 5 screws if my memory is correct and then lifted out the top of the tank. Be sure to label where the 3 wires are connected before removing them. This is not a difficult project. I think the sender was about $70.

Thanks for this info. Tomorrow I will look to see if mine has this same access point. But to replace it DIY, I will likely have to wait until spring when I am at a family's place. I'm a full-timer and if the tank must be emptied, doesn't sound like a project to be done in most RV parks! Still, good to know how to proceed.

Since a Diplomat and Ambassador are first cousins, they probably use the same parts. Keep me posted and I will do the same.

It is supposed to be a 100 gal tank but when measured it is a 110 gal. call centroid with meas. and they can replace. You will have to empty tank because it is located on bottom side. It is a diy project.

Yep, not a surprise there. My assumption would be that it is inserted from the top of the tank, but don't know that for sure. What I do know is that there is alot of motorhome all around my fuel tank, so my question is how do you go about getting access to where you need to remove and replace the sending unit. I would assume only someone that has done so on a similar unit would know.

Billseal - sorry I hijacked your thread, but maybe we can work through this together. I would probably get the sending unit from Monaco. In fact, I will email them right now and get a price for my unit. Will probably get a response next week. But probably any RV parts department could get the right unit.

Thanks. I figured it was either that, unless there is a fuse to it. I have not had time to check. Just use my trip odometer to know when I need fuel.

Wonder if that is a DIY item. How the heck you get to the thing?
