Fuel Tank Filler Neck

I have a 1995 Gulf Stream Conquest on a Ford E-350 cut away. I had problems with a gas smell inside the camper and was able to figure it out that the previous owner bent the small flap in the filler neck. I removed the neck and tried to fix the flap with no success. Then the fun part began, trying to locate another filler neck. No one in my area sells them. This includes, auto and rv stores. Would anyone know where I can purchase one?
  • I've checked the hose and didn't find any damage. I've sent an e-mail bill)to Filler Neck Supply Company requesting that they check to see if they have the part I need. I'll keep you all updated. Thanks again, Deputy(Bill Cooke)
  • Usually the rubber hose between the filler neck and the tank cracks and leaks.
Check that, where it runs over the frame.
  • Just one more thing about the smell of gas, it seems to happen when I get gas. It smells for a while then dissipates. I haven't found any gas leaks and the hose seems to be in good shape.

Suggest you find the fuel fill and vent connections on the top of the tank and work out and back from there. Lots of times the short hoses that adapt the steel tubing of the fill and vent pipes to the tank's fittings have strain on them and crack as the rubber ages. Replace as needed using hose rated for unleaded gasoline. Work back from there to the filler neck. There will probably be other joints made up with pieces of hose between stretches of metal tubing.
  • The flap in the filler neck does not seal. The gas cap may, depending on the evaporative emission configuration.
I suspect a new filler neck is not going to solve your problem.
