I was able to check some voltages yesterday and it looks like the charger took a dump. The only disconnect I found was in the cab next to the door. That is switched on along with the chassis switch. I then tested the house batteries which were at 12.12v. I tested the output connectors on the charger and they too were 12.12v. I double checked the outlet the charger is plugged in to and it was hot. Since I was reading the same voltage at each end, I've eliminated a fuse being the culprit.
I do however have a Tripp-Lite inverter. I wasn't sure what it was until I read the owners manual. It seams to be a pretty neat tool when boon docking or if you want to invert DC to AC without using the Gen or Shore power. I noticed it would also charge. I'm not sure if it's connected to the chassis batteries or both the chassis and house batteries. I configured the dip switches and enabled the charging mode, although it will charge for about 5 seconds, then I can hear what I think is a relay trip, then it stops for about 5 seconds... Then it will charge for another 5 seconds and trip... The process repeats...
I'm just going to replace the charger. Any suggestions? I found this on Amazon and with my prime account I get 2 day shipping free. It has good ratings. Powermax 55amp
One more question, are house batteries generally wired in series? I only have two and they are wired in series. I can't find the voltage rating on the battery although I would think they are 12v batts. But if that were the case and they were wired in series they would produce 24v correct? When I test one battery, I get just above 6v. When I test a positive lead on one batt and the negative on the other, I get 12.12v. Are they only 6v batts?
Again, I'm kind of electrically challenged so pardon my ignorance! :)
