Furnace

I went and turned the furnace on Thursday and set the thermostat at 40, I have the RV winterized so this was just for precaution it was supposed to get down in the teens the LP gauge showed 2/3 tank every thing was fine I looked at the temp this morning gauge read 25 in the MH went to check it out the furnace fan was running but no heat, I could hear the furnace trying to lite, the LP gauge still read 2/3 tank, I would say I am out of Profane, and that the gauge is wrong. Where is the gauge in case I need to replace it. I am going to wait until I can get some more profane to see if it is empty. Any one have any ideas. Thanks Roy

    My 08 Excursion doesn't show accurate reading on inside monitor if it sits still while using all the propane in tank but once I drive for a short distance it reads correctly. I think the float in the tank gets stuck when not moving.

    Yes it was plugged in it's setting beside my garage so it stays plugged in 24/7. If the tank was 2/3 full Thursday and when I checked it last night it was still 2/3 full and the furnace was running, how long will it run on a 2/3 of a tank, it ran for two days gauge didn't move. Roy

    Propane works fine well down into minus temps, so that's not likely the OP's issue. A mis-reading monitor panel gauge seems probable. If the stove burners don't light either, than the tank is likely empty. As said, the mechanical gauge is on the side of the tank near the fill port.

    The propane is stored in the tank in liquid form. It has to change to a gas to make it to your furnace. That takes heat. It is possible that when it is really cold outside, there is not enough heat to evaporate the liquid to a gas fast enough to keep the furnace running.

    Hi,

    Were you plugged into shore power? If not the battery may be discharged enough that the flow of air will not allow the sail switch to engage. When the sail switch does not connect, the gas valve that allows propane to flow to the burner will shut off.

    It ran Thursday night and Friday, but was off this morning the LP Gauge had not moved from Thursday to this morning, it was 2/3 full Thursday when I cut it on and still 2/3 this morning. The Temp was colder Thursday night than it was last night. Roy

    I would first check to see if the stove top burners were working... Sometimes we have run into the PROPANE not making it into the trailer when it gets real cold outside. Perhaps the propane regulator freezing up???

    We use a couple of these THERMO CUBES we got from AMAZON that turn on at 35 Degrees and turns off at 45 degrees. We can plug our 120VAC OIL FILLED HEATER into it. It also works great for plugging a 100WATT light bulb into it... Might help warming up the compartment abit where your propane tanks are located...

    I assume from your question of where is the gauge, that the 2/3 reading was the inside monitor. The gauge should be on the tank, next to the fill valve.
