Maybe I was not clear in my OP due to my frustration. According to Winnebago Tech Support, the way to fix it would be to remove the existing bolt which has a double nut on the bottom. The underside of the frame then needs to be grinded flush with the bracket. At this time, a grade 8 bolt needs to be inserted into the bracket on the ram and the head of the bolt welded to the underside of the hole at the sheer point. The nuts can then be put back on the bottom to make required adjustments. The existing bolt had been welded to the frame at the factory eliminating the idea of removing the broken bolt entirely. Winnebago states that even if brought to the factory in Forest City, they would use this method to repair it.
The challenge is getting a good weld joint in a very tight space, especially on the back side of the bolt.
I will be taking it back to the selling dealership tomorrow to have it repaired.I have owned this unit for 10 days and believe it should be covered under the warranty mandated by state law.
I did check with my Extended Warranty company, but they stated they do not cover nuts and bolts.
I will keep you posted!
