The bolts may seem like overkill but that is right in the middle of the roof. Bolting it down will take the tension off of the sides which then would have a better chance staying down with wood screws. Since you are going to caulk and Eternabond the entire seam, use carriage bolts, which have a broad round head and they will be easy to seal as will the rest of the joint.
