I think I'm doing it your way Dale. I'm going to put the clay tape stuff between the cap and the roof as that is what the RV guy suggested. I was also worried about bolting it down too tight because of the flex issues. I'm okay with bolting it or screwing to the sub roof, but I don't think I'll try and attach it to the steel frame.
The only thing I'm not sure about is how thick the roof is. I don't know if the fiberglass is directly on top of that sub roof or if there is something else up there. But I think if I remove the AM radio antenna I'll be able to tell exactly what's in there. That antenna never worked well anyway and they put the satellite dish too close to it so the dish hits it sometimes. So I'm either going to remove it and fill in the hole, or see if I can replace it with something different that doesn't get in the way of the dish.
