Gjac, I was thinking of some kind of adhesive like that, but I have two concerns with that. First of all, if it were that simple, why don't motorhome makers just glue the pieces together to begin with? I'm thinking they don't because there does need to be a little bit of give between the two pieces and most importantly, some of that adhesive isn't coming apart once it's on. So what happens if you have to replace the front cap or the roof? You may end up having to replace both since you'll tear up both trying to get them off.
I did notice that in the opening I can get to behind the TV, there is actually a gap over the top of the steel longitudinal beams. I can reach in behind that gap and feel that there is spray in foam in those areas between the ceiling and the roof. But I can reach back about an additional four or five inches before hitting the foam. So with that four or five inches on each side, along with the area I have easy access to in the middle, I have enough room to add about a three foot long piece of hardwood which will match up with the seam. So I'm going to do that and then at least for that middle three feet I'll get screws long enough to go all the way down and into the hardwood. And then for the remaining 2 1/2 feet on either side I'll just have to screw it down into the underlayment and hope it all holds together. I think it will do just fine with that added support.
