Garmin Dezl 560LMT

Our Magellan Roadmate 9165T has bit the dust and it's time for a new GPS. I was fairly happy with the Magellan.

Our coach came with a Garmin Nuvi 55 all set up, but would definitely like a more user specific unit.

From what I can tell the Dezl 560LMT should fit right in where the Nuvi sat. This would make for a nice clean setup and the location for it is great and easy to see while driving.

For those that have one are you happy with it and would you recommend having one.

For ease of use the Garmin would be better.

Thanks
  • For what it's worth, I bought a Garmin 760 RV this summer and we used it on a 5K+ mile trip from AL to NS. I like the Garmin format and am familiar with it's use which helps. The coach had a Alpine GPS which I discarded and used the original mount and the Garmin mount epoxied together so it sits in the original spot and works great.

Love the campground feature and only had 1 situation where one wasn't in the data base. Routing kept us away from problems but I ALWAYS look a a map too. 45 years flying helicopters taught me to never completely rely on electronic navigation. Also taught me to use check lists which has kept me out of trouble but that's another topic.
  • Thanks for all of the replies, Ghost 1750, I have to admit the screen was easier to see on the Garmin Nuvi than on the Magellan. Was trying to justify the extra cost of the 560.

Will miss all of the campground destinations that the Magellan had in it. (Some we're wrong) but still made it easy to check on Google maps.
  • I tried the Rand McNally 7" but couldn't read the screen because of the glare even after I bought a shield for it. Otherwise I have always used a Garmin. The one I have now is the 5". Wish it was for RV. By the way I paid over $800.00 for my first one in 2006. My wife passed away and I couldn't navigate and drive at the same time.
  • I've used the Dezl 560 for over 3 years. It's been reliable and easy to update. It has occasionally given odd routing, like all GPS I've ever worked with. I'd buy it again.
  • Just wanted to point out that for those of you for whom the Garmin RV760 is too big....there is a new RV660 model to consider.
  • Trap, ... I have the Dezl 560 and find it to be a good GPS. And yes, it can be set for Auto, Truck, or RV. In RV mode you set size and weight for routing adjustments needed for the RV.

The one thing I usually do is add whatever destination I have using the POI loader and simply route to it through my Favorites.

I've replaced it with the RV760 witch has a bigger screen and now use the 560 in my car. I'm sure the time will come where the 560 might mislead me, but to date (2 years) it has never sent me on a scenic tour, it's always been right on.
  • The Dezl is the for trucks I have one and would love to have the RV model - sometimes the truck GPS takes me on strange routes

The RV GPS comes in 6 and 7 inch screens
