I've had both: two gassers (35' 2004 Sea Breeze & 31' 2001 Sea View) and a DP (41' 2001 Newmar).
The Sea Breeze was no fun to drive long distances, but cheap to maintain. The Newmar was much better driving -- air bags make a big difference, but very expensive to maintain.
The 2001 Sea View, our newest gasser, has been a pleasant surprise. Maybe I wasn't expecting much. The V10 is zippy as hell, the steering is precise (not loose and wandering like our Sea Breeze), and the ride quality is good enough for long distance driving.
