Our 04 gas MH rides like a lumber wagon on rough roads. Front and rear shocks are only a little over a year old. I understand diesel MH's ride smooth because of air suspension and was wondering if it is possibe to add air ride to gas MH's or what I might do for a smoother ride.

Which chassis do you have, possibly a Workhorse P-32 ?

Shocks do nothing to smooth out a ride. Any roughness is with the springs, tires, or if the suspension is bottomed out and the rubber cushions between the axle and frame are hitting.

Without knowing any other info....have you weighed the coach and set the tire pressure appropriately. You don't necessarily need a four corner weight, just find out the front and rear axle weights. 10 PSI over recommended pressure will make them ride horribly.

A lot of people like to try and increase their fuel economy by running empty on the water tanks. Often, a full tank will help give a better ride, leaving the tank empty won't change your mileage.
