I learned the hard way that the OBD II port provides power at all times and the reader RS232 interface module I was using sucked down the battery over a few days. I had assumed incorrectly that if the ignition was off the OBD port would not be powered. That was on a 99 F53 chassis.
On Edit: Just to clarify. When the ignition was OFF the computer was dead (non communicating) but the OBD II port was still providing power from the chassis battery.
