Holstein, The fuel pump clacking noise has got me baffled. Ours is mounted fairly solid and the noise is very low, unless you are at the generator when priming it. Have you gotten any further with the shut-off problem? Those temps are not unusual when driving in hot weather. You have verified that the baffles are in place on the bottom of the generator? If they are, then adding some sheet metal baffles to help get cooler air when driving down the road. As for the fuel pump noise, maybe try rubber mounting the pump to isolate the noise. Maybe use sections of tire side wall as isolators.
