Generator Engine Question

I have pulled my 6.5 onan a couple of time. Disconnect the fuel line, electrical wiring in the box, and the connector that goes into the side of the circuit panel. take loose the muffler from below. 4 bolts held mine down, I backed up my pickup and the generator was at the same height as my tail gate. tied a rope to it and pulled it into my bed. I am 68 years old. Reverse is the same. It will take two people to handle it if by hand, it probably weights about 250 lbs.

I may try a few different products, but it's leaking pretty good.

Does anyone have any experience removing a generator?

many products can soften the seals and swell them some to get a few more years of life out of it.

I have a leak in my 20 year old Kohler also the oil leak drips on the muffler underneath and smokes, it started when I put Syn oil in the crankcase. I have switched back to regular oil and it is slowing down. I don't know if anyone has tried a stop leak product like Lucas with any success? Pulling the genset looks like a big job.

Another option would be to just purchase a used generator from a RV s**** yard as I would imagine that I could pick one of those up fairly reasonably.

My 5.5 Generac has the same problem and so far have just been adding oil as needed. So much in fact, that I quit changing it and only the filter, once a year. Now, that I've lost ac output with a major problem, like maybe a hole blown in the stator windings, I'll most likely be pulling it and taking care of the engine oil problem, as well. The problem I see with getting it out of there, is with having clearance under the coach for it, as it has to come out the bottom. As with anything, you learn as you go and it always makes me laugh, when someone says, how did you know to do that, if you've never done it before and as everyone should know, there's a first time for everything.
My only other option, is to mount a 3500watt Champion on the back with an extended hitch receiver, since nothing else is going in that compartment with proper clearance. Finding one in a salvage yard with some dependability for a replacement wouldn't be easy, so one might as well rebuild, what they have.

I have been an "engine guy" all my life. Oil leaks are most often easily stopped.
My suggestions:
Get the manuals and parts lists for your unit.
Take the unit out and clean it.
Check for loose fasteners.
Run it and see if it still leaks.
Clean it again and spray it with a power deodorant (we used to use expensive stuff call tracing powder, but this will work.)
When you find where it is still leaking, fix that and try again.

This is a major league PITA, but it is usually worth it.
