Saving money is great we all agree. But has anyone tested their home made genturi? Are all gases being taken upward? Is there any back pressure?
What is the back pressure? what is acceptable?
Is being hot enough to the touch to burn someone OK? What is the temperature of the aluminum downspout? What is acceptable?
I'm not saying the home made units aren't OK but.......
When I was in engineering school...
The Venturi effect is the reduction in pressure and extra cool air is sucked into the up pipe (not possible if any back pressue). Even if it did not, is this not better than putting 100% towards your neighbor?
Forget the above, back pressure from going from 1 1/4" diameter exhaust into a 2"X4" pipe? :S
Guess you did not see my reading/testing on the temp of the up pipe. "You do not need the air gap, but it does lower the temp of the up pipe by 15 degrees to 120F." This was with a 10K generator running two AC and the electric portion of the AquaHot to create the most load possible for testing. 120 degrees is not going to burn anyone.
Yes, I went to engineering school too, SO...
