Generator noise under bed
Those of you who own gas powered Class A motorhomes....how do you deal with the noise of the generator under your bed at night?

X2- Our 5.5KW Onan is mounted partly under the bed, but we don't have any trouble sleeping with it running. The steady hum just adds some white noise. The bedroom furnace fan is louder than the generator. I haven't tried it without the Gen-turi exhaust redirector installed though. That might make a difference.
- Ours is located under our bedroom but not under the bed; it is under the dressers. while I occasionally lay in bed with it running, I would never sleep with it running. And typically, I am running it for the a/c, which drowns out the sound.
- The 5kw generator for my motorhome is located under my bed. To reduce the noise I have covered the box under the bed with acoustic sound deadening foam. I also added some of the same foam in the generator compartment. This has reduced the noise considerably. I do not run the generator while sleeping.

Did you really read what the OP was asking?- I've never used the generator while sleeping.
If I did, the noise would not bother me, it's not that loud or annoying. JMO - Mine has the generator under the bed. Does it bother me when I try to sleep? No. It depends on how much party that nite...or how tired I am.
In 13 years with this current motorhome, that has happend 3 times. There are, I'm told, some sound deadening products that can be used, but i really don't know. - I would not buy a motorhome with the generator under the bed, whether I planned on using it while sleeping, or not. That is simply bad design, and would be a dealbreaker for me.
At some companies, the marketing teams who design these things seem not to have an understanding of how they are used. They ship them off to dealers, buyers look, say "I can't buy it because of that" and it takes two to three years to find a buyer that doesn't figure out the design defect. Model meanwhile gets discontinued because dealers won't buy it. Natural selection inthe RV world. - Our gas generator is located amidships and on the other side of the coach.
