Thank you for your suggestions and possible solutions. The inverter was still operating when we entered the coach and the house batteries remained fully charged. I will give Onan a call on Monday and ask the techs. They should be aware of this quirky problem as The Big Kahuna suggests it happens to some of their generators. I will let you know what they tell me.
