30 minutes is plenty to ensure that fresh fuel has filled the carb.
AND if you have stabilized fuel, once a month is plenty too.
I think a preventative dose of a good carb cleaner while actually in use is much more effective than long runs during a storage period. Whatever varnish that is already deposited is NOT soluble in plain gas.
P.S. Since having a new carb installed and being sure to prime before each start, mine usually starts on the first revolution; about 1-2 seconds. I won't crank it more than 5 seconds and IIRC it has never failed to start quickly on the second crank.
