I think maybe the Gasoline is the Lesser Stuff. I know it took a terrible turn after the crisis of when was it, late 1970's early 1980's. Refining was changed to produce a higher yield of gasoline per barrel of crude. It worked but the gasoline became less stable.
Camping in North Florida, I'd often see Joe, a fisherman from the Carolinas. I noticed how well his genset ran. He said he puts Sta-Bil in the main tank EVERY fillup, even when he's going to burn it all on the trip to FL. Said he's not had genset issues. I started doing that and no genset issues for me either. Adds about $5 to a 50-gallon fillup. At the value of camping, the help a genset provides, and the cost of carburetors, totally worth it.
