Neither of those is really good advice.
Because of hose routing and filter placement (especially add-on filters) fuel can partially drain back after being off for only a few minutes.
And it is virtually impossible to "over prime" and my book says 30 seconds......so there is no good reason to limit yourself to only 6 seconds.
If that works for you that's great but it is likely to NOT work good for everybody.
