Had same issue on my 06 Ambassador. When trouble shooting I found out the switches provide a ground for the start relay on the generator. Problem turned out to be a corrode pin (actually where the wire was soldered to the pin) on the cable connector from the generator to the motor home right above the front axle. I cut and spliced around it. If I ever have to remove the gen I'll just cut the splice.
