Georgie Boy Slide Out Sheer Pin Breaking

Are any of you aware of anyone coming up with a permanent fix for this shear pin breaking problem on the slide out for Georgie Boy motorhomes? Mine would not go in all the way at the bottom and the manual pipe handle is worthless for getting it in or out. When I headed out for home, it popped out while driving down the interstate. 2006 Pursuit, 35 feet, 2 slides.

  • Try running the slide out about 1/3 of the way. Locate fixed oblects on each end of the slide. Measure closely to see if the slide is moving evenly.
Still sounds like it is binding. This could occur in either or both directions.
  • We have a 2005 Georgie Boy Pursuit and we have had the same problem over the
past 8 years. Had it in the factory (Forest River) and they "fixed" the problem
for good. The shear pins have broken many times since and I have been able to
fix the problem. Finally began using roll pins instead of bolts and it seems
to work much better. Ordered a new part for the mechanism and will have the old
one replaced while we are snow-birding in Florida. The one currently in it
has a hole that is now "out of round" and I think this problem was caused by
some mobile repairman that fixed it the first time. Was able to get underneath
the MH and then sit up and have a clear view of the system. Wife taps the auto
switch until the holes are aligned and I tap in a roll pin. and everything works
fine. Just another day in full-timing!
  • Thanks for your input enblethen, it has been cleaned and lubed as for the adjustment I will pass that along to the tech when I take it in. It is a major problem with a few Georgie Boy owners that I know of so I was hoping for more input.
  • Sounds like the slide maybe out of adjustment.
It could be also a simple matter of needing cleaned and lubed.
