First of all, before starting down the down hill crest, if traffic permits, slow down as much as possible. Keep the use of brakes to a minimum. Tap on the brakes to maintain a safe speed, but don't ride them (some people will tell you not to do this), before your speed gets out of hand. Somewhere around 30 to 35 mph, drop it into Tow Mode, if you have that option. Also use the Low gear gear in conjunction with Tow Mode. If you keep the speed low, you will find that you will keep the use the brakes to a minimum. If you use the brakes too hard, and they start smoking and the pedal goes down and appears to lack stopping power, it is too late, and it is best to pull off the road and let the pads cool off. The trick is not to be in a hurry and to allow the traffic behind you to push you along and dictate your driving tactics. Yes, they will be mad, but you drive for safety, and they can always pass you if they are too impatient to wait.
