Brake fluid absorbs water vapor over time. Water in brake fluid turns to steam during heavy braking. When steam forms in brake system, you get a "soft pedal" and lose braking power. You should have brake fluid flushed and replaced once per year to avoid loss of braking power and use lower gear to control speed on long grades. Don't let local yokels goad you into taking turns too fast for your safety and comfort. They have no understanding about the weight and top heaviness of your RV. When there is a safe turnout ahead, signal and pull over to let the parade pass.
