Another comment. Sorry, I can't resist. This is a good thread! Here again, this is coming from my own experiences, your's may be different.
I've read on these forums over and over that there is no need to put any chemical down the black tank, that the Geo Method is all that's necessary.
I quit using chemicals a long time ago and stick primarily to leave a couple gallons of water in all 3 tanks, adding Dawn or liquid laundry soap and then driving around. Works very well, no complaints.
There are those who say their tanks never smell and they don't go through the effort of a couple extra steps to ensure their tanks really are cleaned out. That's really OK too. No right or wrongs, each one does it different.
But, over the course of this Summer, we've been using the trailer at home and, really, been sleeping in it every night all summer long (at home). I've kept water in the fresh tank and we're using the bathroom.
Because we are home, I don't have the need to dump every day or every other day, as we are at work and also still using the house. So, after about 3 days of using the bathroom (especially at night for those midnight excursions) and doing both the #1 and the #2, we never smell anything from anywhere. Nothing from the black or either grey.... UNTIL .... we push the peddle on the toilet and then ... WAHOO!! YIPPIE!! What a rush of odor comes bursting forth out the hole! The weather has been in the 90's for a long time time now, so after about 3 days ... yup! Face it folks ... IT STINKS! WARNING! DON'T PUSH THE PEDDLE!
I dumped the tank of course, and flushed at home. To say the tanks don't stink... well ...
