Got hung up and could not move. How did I get out?

Tried to get into a friends fairly steep driveway with my air level only in the raised position as I knew it would be close on making it. Drug the hitch for three feet until my drive tires would only spin in both directions. Talk about a OH Sxxxt moment as I could not raise it up any higher to get more traction. How did I get it out without jacks or calling a wrecker? The drive tires were at the bottom of the dip so moving in either direction would make it better. I did make it up the drive.

  • Put in 4 wheel drive of course...

Thats why I buy trucks with 4x4 ....:)
  • Any chance you can get 2x8s under the back tire? But, then again I think you have a tag on that one and I doubt the tag will support enough weight to get you up even if you got the wood under the tires. Boy, this has to hurt.

Sorry I don't have any better ideas. On our rig I don't think you can let air out of the front bags when you are in drive mode. So, that is why I would try the wood. Something to let your tire get a grip.

Pls let us know how this turns out.

On edit: not sure how I missed the other posts on putting wood under the back tires. But, I agree with the other posters on this.
  • Get yourself 4 two by six , six feet long and put behind the wheels and back up slowly
  • Ivylog, I would say that you lowered the front end so that the rear would raise allowing the drive wheels to have traction. Scary situation to be in.

Thinking that lifting the tag wouldn't help as that would only lower the rear end allowing the hitch to dig in even more.

    Hope all went well.
