Four is common, some have six, and a few models have more.
Our 2000 beaver with a 2000 W inverter had 4, now our 2002 with a 3000 W inverter has 6 so that might be the determining factor. One chap had two inverters and 8 or 10 batteries....country coach I believe or possibly a Newall.
