Lots depends on what someone is looking for.
We did enjoy the train ride in from Williams, along with the Sunset tour to Hopi Point by bus. Very fun, and a great sunset too... But also spot on about the time it takes to take the toad back into the park for day visits.
We are in Trailer Village as I type. Watched the sunset last night, and then went to the spot to watch the sunrise this AM. Great weather the last few days. Very much enjoyed the smaller crowds of this time of year. No reservations, and sit down window views from Arizona Room and Tolver dining rooms. And the hiking along the rim trail, at so many locations, is one that is hard to beat. We have not been able to get down into the canyon itself, due to not leaving dog for more then a few hours at a time.
Either way is fun, one of those where you should try to do it both ways on two different trips. Or Williams for a few nights, and then into the park for a few nights...
Best to all, be safe, have fun,
Smitty
