Greenbrier WV Camping

We will be in the Greenbrier WV area the last week of July. It is close to the State Fair, so the fairgrounds are out and the state forest won't handle our size. The Greenbrier River Campground about 15 mi south of Lewisburg sounds good. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks as always.

  • We tent camped there a couple of times several years ago. Very nice man owned/ran the place. Not sure if he is still there. Nice enough place...not huge. There is river access (tent sites along the river) if you want to get wet. The have a great canoe livery service (or at least they did) that will take you to whatever point you want on the Greenbrier River, drop you off and pick you back up where ever you want.

Have you considered Bolar Mountain on Lake Moomaw just over the border in VA? It is near Covington, VA. Haven't stayed there lately, but my husband said it passed his daughter "clean test" years ago.

Good luck. Beautiful area. As a matter of fact we are fishing a tournament at Moomaw this Sunday. I will keep my eye out for other campgrounds.
  • I have their website, and it looks nice. My curiosity is if anyone has been there or would recommend a better option in the neighborhood. Thanks
