You may have a digital to analogue set top box tucked away in a cupboard somewhere and that needs to be switched on to get a picture on your old set.
Set up in my 99 Cutter is similar to yours and since we never bother with TV, the small one in the bedroom has already hit the dumpster and the large one is still there just to save me filling the hole up with something. The old VCR also bit the dust as did the tapes that the previous owner left behind.
Next 6 month trip I might do something about the rest. Buy a new flat screen and get rid of the rest of the analogue bits and pieces.
