:h - TOOL's Let's talk TOOL's - :@Simple topic but just curious what most have found as being the "Best" or Most "Used" tool you carry?Used to just carry - Sockets and Wrenches - but over the years the most used tool is the Multimeter - and electrical repair kit. Seems as these Homes go down the road the electrical system is the weak link.Still carry a drill and impact gun, pliers and screwdrivers, few sockets and wrenches, but the most used is the Multimeter or the 12 volt probe.Am I alone?What is your most used "TOOL".Just wondering,

I still carry a full tool box. full to me anyway.

Sockets, jack stand, breaker bar to change tires and re-torque wheels at 475 ftlb. Multimeter and a tool set in a box which has all of my sockets, open end wrenches, and screwdrivers. The tools I use the most are for finding and fixing electrical issues. If I need any other tools, there are always hardware or automotive stores where I can buy what I need.I also carry a credit card and Coach Net which minimizes most repairs that I need to do.

The tool you don't have is the tool you'll need. So I'm carrying too many. Up to 1-1/4 sockets and combos. Even a small vise. Only been on side of road 3 times in 50 years. Prev.Maint is better than breakdowns. constantly checking everything.

I always joke that I carry enough tools to rebuild the engine on the side of the road if I needed to and I'm not so sure that it is a joke. However, the tools I use the most are simple screwdrivers for screws that occasionally back out due to road movement/vibration and the multimeter.Lou05 Travel Supreme Envoy

Most used tool: probably the #2 Robertson (square) screwdriver. Second is probably the breaker bar and sockets and extensions, along with a jack, needed to change tires etc, not so much because of tire troubles but because of other odd jobs that require removing the wheel. In particular, I've had a little trouble occasionally with a sticky brake caliper, and have had to remove a wheel to unstick it.

A multimeter can be very useful, too, along with basic wiring tools (wire cutter, stripper, terminal crimper).

I carry the top section of my former roll around tool cabinet filled with tools. But the tools I use the most are the Lithium battery powered screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, my digital multimeter, and the CC.

In my case a small battery operated rechargable drill.. Now I"m in a class A but with the proper adapters it does bolts, screws, and a host of other things.

IN a trailer I'd want a much larger battery operated drill (I have one of those too) or a power drill (120 volt) (Likewise) But it makes it so much easier to remove and replace screws.. Oh, a #2 Square bit too.

I use (and carry) 'em all. I carry a full set and the one's I wouldn't be without include a heavy duty impact, 20 ton bottle jack and a good torque wrench. Oh and a soldering iron.

I used to carry a very full set of tools in my '55 Merc and then my first F150, pretty much no longer cary much in the new truck. Bought a Bounder, carried the full tool box over to the Bounder from the truck. Moved that from to Bounder to the Winnie, fixed all the stuff I found wrong or didn't like or added.

I put together a 12" HFT tool bag with the things I really use, DMM, 422 channel locks, dikes, side cutters, needlenosed, crimpers, non-contact voltage detector, and several screwdrivers. and a 1/4" nutdriver for the bleeder on the hydraulics for the levelers.

I don't use the others so its back into the garage when we get home next time. Some I have never used and really don't know why they are there.

At 77 and a very worn and fragile back, I do have a lug nut wrench that came in the rig and a impact socket just in case. I'm not going to use them but the tow operator may not have the right socket.

volt meter and an angle grinder. First is obvious, the latter comes in handy for the unusual stuff when you're on the road.

I don't have any Monaco or RV specific tools. I will need tools in the Motorhome, as well as tools at the house. Exciting and scared...

This will be my first RV/Coach. Heck, I don't even have the Rig yet, I'm flying out to pick it up this Friday!

I hope the only tool I need is the Gas pump on the drive home... :D

Recommend that when you pick up your coach, you head for the nearest large empty parking lot and practice driving. Put vinyl tape on the window where the lanes are, lock all the basement compartments, measure the oil level, etc...

In other words, learn your vehicle before taking a long trip. What I did for weeks before I bought, was to watch semi trucks and buses in traffic to see how they turned and when they started pressing on the brake pedal, etc. Really helped when I drove my very first Class A RV. Not the first RV I'd ever been inside, but certainly the first I'd ever driven. My family wasn't a big rig sort of family either so I had no expirience.

I suggest a multimeter, a 1/4 drive socket set with US and metric sockets, Wrenches both US and metric (Up to one inch to start) and a magnetic screwdriver with good set of tips (20/30 or more types) Get the good stuff. This will be the start of the tool kit that you will depend on.

The most used tools? The manual and the screwdriver.
The multimeter and the knowledge to use it, is next.

Thank you that is a very wise thing to do. I had planned on it but after Igot home, but your idea to do it before I leave will be very helpfull! As well as the tape so I can figure where my rig is actually on the road...

I have a multitester, I jut have to figure out ow to use it...

Like for example how to test relays...
