I'm in the Happy Camper group...mainly cuz I'm usually a very happy person..some say it's cuz I married my sweetheart...:W.
Main reasons to be or become a happy camper are:
1. Do your homework and don't expect someone else to do it for you.
2. Be realistic in your expectations and don't set the bar too high.
3. Fix the small things yourself. These are complicated machines with many things and many people putting them together. Unlike automobiles which are assembled mainly by machines, an RV has a small army of people each doing their own thing to assemble the finished product. There are going to be human messups that will need to be fixed. Often I've done a head slap asking myself "What idiot would think to put THAT THERE"?
4. Realize that things may go wrong and need to be fixed. Accept those things that do go wrong, fix em and get out and enjoy your freedom and the RV.
5. Be proactive in ensuring the RV is in the best possible condition before you take her out. This means annual maintenance, filters, oil changes, lube etc. You can do simple things like zip tying all the wiring every 12-18" throughout the coach. This prevents the wiring from bouncing around and breaking.
6. Plan at least one trip a year where you don't plan on doing anything except enjoying the company of your significant other....Dennis
