Hard to find part

In my 2007 Safari Simba I have an electric step made by Coach Step Inc. Recently I had to replace the motor. I went on line found and ordered it no problem. The other day coming out of the motorhome I heard a snap and steps moved freely under foot. What I found was that the ball joint had snapped in two. I rigged up a temporary solutions so it would not move and we could use the steps and bungy chords were used for the trip home. Went on line and cannot find anyone that has the part. Have been told that the step has been discontinued and no more parts were being made, even though I was able to get a motor for it not more than a month ago. I have checked with the manufacturer, Amazon, ebay, etrailers, no luck. Anyone out there have any other ideas. It is called a Stromberg-Carlson SP165220 ball joint for electric step. The only solution the manufacturer had was buy a new step. There is a surprise. Thanks.

    Did you try googling the part number, a quick google search turned up a couple in stock at various RV parts places.

    same thing happened to me..I got the part at NAPA...they stock it..take it in and get it..This is what the recall is about with these steps.....unfortunately, the fix for the recall is not out there yet..go to napa with the old ball joint..they will have it..

    If you have a Tractor Supply in your area, they have rod ends that will work for you. Those ends are used on the steering of lawn tractors.
    I find several web sites with the part number you list.

    I believe Lippert is the owner of Coachstep and Lippert just bought Kwikee step. Lippert has stopped making the Coachstep and replaced it with the Kwikee step brand.
    I know Tiffin just had a recall of most all their MH with the Coachstep. But I've heard the part is not available at this time.

    No great surprise a particular part is no longer available. Happens all the time. And since you could not find it in the places your searched, a new step is probably in your future.
