- SDcampowneroperExplorerLarry,
We see many a year transporting MCs with a carrier like that. Works fine, no excessive tire wear, or other horror stories. Center of highway potholes? no. there aint.
Cant back up more than a couple of feet, cant tow a cvt ( constant variable transmission) scooter like our Suzuki Bergman, can tow our HD Electra Glide in neutral with no problem.
Max - Z3DriverExplorerThanks, folks. Right now we are using a hitch mounted rack for our Honda scooter. Want to get a bigger bike. Probably will use our utility trailer.
Larry - Bill1374ExplorerI'm using an Overbilt lift on the back of my MH. Handles the Harley just fine and still let me bring the car behind.
- JaxDadExplorer IIIWith that much added to the overhang it looks like it would be destroyed (possibly the bike too) the first time you went up a ramp or up into a raised driveway, gas station, etc.
- FIRE_UPExplorerWell Larry,
As you might have gathered, that link you posted isn't getting too much praise. I wouldn't use that kind of mechanism if someone paid me to. Yes, I know it's cheap method for hauling M/Cs but, without a doubt, it could also be the most costly if, your M/C rear tire gives up the ghost when you're cruising at around 65 or so. As has been suggested, there's multiple other ways to do it. Heck, I'd even give this one a look-see to see if you might like it. Waaaaaaaaaay better than dragging your nice bike behind your M/H and not knowing what's happening to it. Not to mention all the wear and tear of that entire drive train and you're not even riding it.

But, there's all kinds of means to tote your bike out there besides that mess. Good luck.
Scott - hugemothExplorerI had a similar homemade one that I used a few times. Towed a Vespa from California to North Carolina and back with no problems. Removing the drive chain on the bike would be necessary for any towing over a couple miles.

When we decided to go on the road I'd bought a car dolly/motorcycle combo trailer but decided that it was too heavy for our RV. I think given the option I would search for a true trailer rather than this That cannot be good for the bike at all. If I were broken down a few miles from home and had the ability to get it home this way, maybe I'd do that.
Search for a decent Kendon trailer. They're light and easy to maneuver.

I tow my Harley Super Glide behind our 24’ Class C on a Kendon single trailer. Tows like it’s not even back there. The long over hang combined with the low profile trailer keeps the bike ding free. Bike and trailer weigh 900#. Towed it over 9,000 miles in 2017, rode it more than 15,000. Works for me!
:C - Tom_BarbExplorer IIWe already tow a jeep or trailer.
