To actually answer the OP, yes, twice. Both times having my pistol kept us safe enabling me to prevent a bad situation from escalating to deadly. The folks that state they have never been in any danger remind me of the golfers on our local courses who proudly state they have never seen a rattlesnake in 10, 20 years. To them I say you really should pay more attention. Situational awareness is your best defense, if a situation doesn't feel right it probably isn't.
In a CG near Greer that we have visited a couple was murdered, their rig burned to the ground (with them in it), and their vehicle stolen. The simple fact is there are some very sick folks running around loose out there and they do not wear signs stating that they are dangerous.
I have never had to use one of my fire extinguishers while RV'ing but I carry two (rated A,B,C), and know how to use them (you do know how to use them right?). To not do so would be foolish.
