Have you ever felt threatened while camping?

Have you ever been in a postion where you or your loved ones have been threatened while either dry camping, boondocking, camping at a truck stop or even in an RV park to where you felt you needed the added protection of a gun? Trying to decided if carrying a gun in the motorhome is a good idea or not? What do you think?
  • No, but as someone else on here has said before, I haven't had a fire either, but I still have a fire extinguisher. I like being prepared.

    Mike
  • Once in 35+ years when a coyote followed us down a trail.
    Other than that, no.

I'd have made the homeless guy a sandwich (we actually have done this but it was mid day).
    Just sayin.
  • We were approached by a homeless looking guy wanting a "sandwich" while parked at a closed Wal-Mart. We told him we didn't have any and he moved on to another RV.

Were we in any danger? Don't think so, but don't know. I answered him thru the closed window, not at the door. It was dark and we were somewhat hidden from traffic and public view.
  • We have been fulltime for over 12 years. Having spent nights at almost every place conceivable. Never once have I been in a situation that I felt threaten. Inside or out. Not saying that it can't happen. It has to others.
  • Been camping for over 55 years starting when I was a little kid. I've never felt threatened enough to need a weapon while camping.

Now I am not a gun-nut. But I do own guns. I do not have a concealed carry permit, and don't want one. I don't carry. I stay out of places where one might be needed.

I do occasionally boondock. Still never felt I needed a gun.
  • I have had one occasion where I am certain my hardware got me out of a situation that may have gotten ugly.
