Heat registers not blowing

My 2001 Monaco Dynasty has several heat registers that don't blow - 1 under kitchen sink, 1 under bath sink, 1 facing master bed and 1 under front dash. I have heat blowing from the other 3 registers. Suggestions on potential remedies?

  • There's no better Aqua-Hot resource then than this one:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have an Aqua Hot heating system, so I don't think I have ducting. I believe the Aqua Hot runs hot water through a system and into the registers that then blow air across the hot pipes to product heat. I will look for blown fuses, since that sounds logical in this case. Other thoughts?

Aqua Hot systems, EACH Heat exchanger (radiator) has 1 or 2 muffin fans that blow the air. THOSE fans may be bad due to the age of the RV. You need to check for 12 volt power at those fans. Doug

  • Hmmmmm.... Those non-functioning registers are in different zones, so I don't think the "rapping the valve" solution will help in this case. That would help if you were just getting cold air from them. Seems more like an electrical issue. Were they working last time you put the heat on? I'd go looking for blown fuses first.......

  • You need to identify what type of heating system you have. If it is an Aqua-Hot system, you should give the check valves a whack to see if that gets a stuck valve to open. Also you can check to verify that the relays are properly seated.

  • Furnace has a discharge plenum where ducts are connected...usually just a spring clip.
Traveling, bouncing, vibration can work them loose.

Same can happen on the end duct at the registers.
  • I would suggest looking at the duct work as well. It's amazing sometimes on how bad the factories can install these types of things.
  • By removing the cold air inlet grate and the front of the air box you may be able to tell if one is disconnected.
  • Sounds like to me that you have a duct that came loose off from the furnace or a fitting, or also could be a collapsed duct..
