OP, the breakers might be 20 amp, not 15.

1. The temps are dropping into the mid to high 20's for about 8 hours.
2. Temps during the day in the 40's. Going to get warmer later in the week (Las Vegas, NV)
3. I don't see a place to set the fan mode.
4. Don't know how long he'll be in the hospital because I really don't know why he's in there!
5. Will check the 5/15 minute thingy when I get the keys back.

I truly appreciate all the help I've received. Heck, if I had the $$, I'd probably switch my fiver in for an A!

Penny I have one thermostat on my coach,when you turn it on you select what ever you want to use. If you want the heat pump on the front air conditioner, you select zone 2 and select the temperature you want. Your front heat pump will start in one minute and gradually will heat up. If you also want the rear heat pump also, you then select zone 1, and do the same as you done for the front. Now if you want furnace , select on the mode (furnace) and the only thing that will work is the furnace.

And if you want air conditioning then you select cool and set the temp.

I hope it is not that cold in Las Vegas, I will be there for two weeks during the Christmas holiday. But if it is that cold you will need the furnace, heat pumps are only good to around 30 degrees then the furnace should cut in automaticly.

This past summer I replaced my two Dometic heat pump/ac units with a/c only units. Last week when I turned on the furnace the a/c also started. I discovered that the fan mode has to be set in the auto mode.Fan set in auto mode furnace operates as it is should. In the cooling mode I can set the fan speed any way I want it to operate

The most important point is: how cold are the temps dropping to and for how long?

The heat system will bring on the gas when the mode is set to electric because at about 40 degrees heat pump efficiency is gone. In fact the roof units can actually ice up when it is cold so there is no sense trying to run them.

The heat pumps will not protect the water/utility bays...you must have gas heat to keep that area above freezing. And if the temp is below 10 for an extended amount of time even the gas heat may not help. We had to put a reg. 60 watt bulb down there to keep the pump from freezing. If you aren't dealing with temps that cold you don't have much to worry about.

Propane supply is of course limited in any RV. If you will need propane heat for more than a week...you may need to find a way to refill the onboard tank or have additional propane tanks available.

Let us know at what temps the rig is sitting in and for how much longer you will need to maintain the rig. Folks here can help walk you through steps to prep for more extreme weather.

Turn it on. Wait 15 minutes. Check to see if the air coming out of the air conditioning ducts is warm, or lukewarm (or at least not cold).

But how do I know if it has a heat pump or not??

My electric heat pump only produces heat when outside temp is above 40 degrees. Below 40 degrees, use gas furnace to heat.
