Help--Can't find service points

I bought a 2008 Itasca Navion IQ this past spring. It has a Chrysler chassis and the 6 cylinder Mercedes diesel in it. I wanted to check the steering and transmission fluids before the next trip out. I have looked for the check points, read the manuals, called Winnebago and Chrysler and still can't get a diagram showing where these fluids can be checked. Does anyone know where these points are?

  • The power steering reservoir is easily visible but may need a funnel and a small piece of tubing for adding fluid.

I looked for the M-B spec'd fluid and there was none in a small container visible, so I bought the one-liter bottle on ebay.

There's is no dipstick for the transmission, not unless a previous owner had one install. As was stated this vintage of Mercedes, just like most of the other models M-B builds, was not equipped with one, there's just a single-use sealed plastic cap in the filler tube where the dipstick would normally be.

There is a power steering reservoir, but it's a PITA to get to for most people.

Most folks just depend on the mechanics doing the service (oil change, etc.) to check all the fluids.
  • I'm looking for those, too. I understand there is no way to check the trans fluid but it has to be changed regularly. I will check, but I think its 60K mi.
