Help, broke down-.over heating Cat 350 near Needles CA

We are being towed to Needles. Looking for a recommendation for repairs. We suddenly started to overheat going up the pass on I40 east of Ludlow CA. It looks like we may have lost a belt as it isn...

In order:

Check water pump belt-- it is a separate V belt that ONLY drives the water pump. To check, lay under the rear, just to driver's side of centerline. Belt does not need to be bar tight, but not "flopping loose".

Next in line is to replace thermostat(s). Get that and gasket from a Caterpillar dealer using your engine serial number.
