Took the same trip yesterday (as when the a/c's were cutting out).
Temp was about 8 degrees cooler outside.
Did the same procedure on start up. Everything ran fine for about 2 hours and then they both went to fan only, no cooling.
This was about 1.5 hours longer before shutdown than a week ago.
We pulled over for groceries and i stayed and farted with the rig. I shut the acs down, cut the main power and then shut off the generator (it is diesel by the way).
No breakers were tripped on the generator or in the panel.
I waited a few minutes and then put the generator back on. Then main power, then put the ac in the front on auto and cool. It came on and was cooling fine. Put the second unit opn also. Volt meter stayed in the green.
Drove down the road and at some point they shut off again.
Parked and i let the gen run and switched off the units. Waited 5 minutes and then put them back on and they ran fine until i decided to switch to shore power so i shut it all off again.
This is driving me nuts! !
I wonder if the last post is maybe right in that they are icing? Seems to me though that the extra wind from driving would assist in efficiency (the fans wouldnt need to work as hard) but perhaps the speed is not allowing the fans to exhaust the coil or whatever is in these units???
It's just odd that they both shut down about or exactly at same time.
FWIW i have mobil one 10w/30 in this generator per the manual recommendations.
