Help! Looking for a manual 1985 Chevy G30 Rockwood

Hello Everyone, New to the forum. Any help would be great! I'm a new owner of a clean 1985 Chevy G30 rockwood rv. Its got the van front and RV behind.

I am looking for a manual for it if anyone has one, or knows where I may find one, it would be greatly apprecaited. I'm going to put a new engine in and get everything else in great shape before a road trip.

Thanks!

Peter
  • Do a search for GM ST33085, that should be the GM Shop manual for the 1985 GM motorhome models. It will cover all the various chassis elements specific for the van bodies configured for motorhomes minus any of the coach parts. Example, on mine the manual show the rear taillights terminating at a plug behind the drivers seat. This is where Winnebago connected it to the coach's harness for the rear lights. To find out where it went from there, I need to use the Winnebago's wiring harness for my model.

So, as others said, if you need the chassis manual (based on the actual chassis year not just the RV's year), any manual for and installed equipment like a/c refrigerator, converter, etc. If you're really lucky, you may also be able to find the actual coach manual.
  • Peter,

Manuals for such are rare. Your best hope is to look up and acquire a copy of the manual for the chassis, and a big ring binder. Then, go on line and search up the manuals for all the installed things and print/punch them for your own manual.

Also, get a spiral bound note book for a maintenance log. Put every thing in there. Mine has sections. If you do this right, all of that stuff will be a blur.
"Are the batteries in the house bank really that old?
Those tires look good, are you sure that they are 10?"
Regular maintenance is the only way to have a reliable coach.

    Matt
  • If you need to know something about your rv, ask here. If you need more specific info about something you are having a problem with, snap a pic and post it with your question.
That will be more helpful than any general booklet that came with your rv. :)
  • It's not like a car or truck, the manuals are not created for each model.
Look at your rig as a van and separately look at the appliances and fixtures within it.
The Van chassis is likely a year prior to the claimed model of the rig overall, and the fixtures are likely for the claimed year of the overall rig.
When researching repair info, you will need to have the make, model of the individual component, such as dometic refrigerator model # and year, or converter brand model and year.
You may find an odd manual for a similar model and get some limited value from it, but overall you will find that the piecemeal approach will be required.
You will also find you tube to become your new favorite website as you look for information and "how to's".
