Help pricing a used RV?

Yep, money down before you have a contract makes negotiating difficult.

A very useful tactic is not to contact and to wait a day or two before returning messages so as not to appear overly eager. I have rarely not had someone contact me again, with an improved price.

Interesting...we, too, have a 25ft Coachmen that we intentionally chose without slides. We're super content not to have one. Granted, we are just two people, but we travel with dogs the size of small kids (60 & 70 lbs) who like to sprawl in the middle of the aisle...and we're not small in the vertical direction. ;) Definitely an individual choice. We made an easy mod that opened our space up tremendously, but I won't derail this thread unless it's useful to the OP or others.

I think I am wrong, I don't think maybe, it has anything to do with slide or no slide. I think it has to do with the MSRP and years.

According to NADA 1999 24w Winnie, MSRP in 99 51K, present value about 8K. or about 2700 per year for 15 years

My 2001 Coachmen, MSRP 57K present value about 17k, so 40K in 13 years, or a little over 3K per year. So the Winnie has done better, without a slide.

I think we have decided to hold onto the travel trailer and just replace the tow vehicle with an SUV. Thanks to all for your advice and discussion!

With a 16 year old RV, value is all in the condition of the rig. You think the price is fair and they won't come down, so you have a decision point. Discount and asking price means nothing. If you feel the value meets or exceeds the final price, buying is a logical decision.

I buy stuff for a living so I have some experience that translates to buying vehicles. My advice would be to decide what you want and determine the best way to get it.

If all you want is a lower price then you have two ways to get it. 1) issue an ultimatum like many suggest, a take it or leave it price, or 2) negotiate for a better price by learning more about the rig and the market and use it for comparison. Tires are good thing to check, batteries, maintenance, amount of wear of tear, recent RV sales in the area, etc. You have no position to negotiate from without knowledge.

Yep, time to gain some perspective, if they are not willing to budge neither am I :)
