- darsbenExplorer IIYou need the A/C for defrosters so it should be fixed
- TwomedExplorerProbably a switch cut in by the coach builder to cut off the compressor when heavy load (hill climbing). Helps keep your cooling system from overheating because a/c takes a lot of power.
The answer to leak is that it is under pressure whether turned on or not.
As mentioned above a good a/c shop can replace the switch for you. Be sure they are capable of saving the coolant (Freon or whatever is in your system) and recharge without having you pay for a full re charge, assuming it still gets cold.
This is one of those longer you wait the more it might cost things. Not crucial if you don't run the a/c, but could get expensive in a hurry if you do. :) :) - reddfox77ExplorerSo what is a binary switch for?
- reddfox77ExplorerWhats funny is I didnt even have it on.

Yes, just leave the AC turned off. - reddfox77ExplorerSo I am ok to drive it then?
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIFirst of all, there's no need for any distress. The only thing affected is your dash AC. The oil is part of the Freon/compressor oil that circulates through the system when in operation. As Mustang said, it appears the low pressure switch is leaking. Any competent automotive AC shop should be able to fix it at a reasonable cost. Without the proper equipment, this is NOT a DIY fix.
- reddfox77ExplorerMustang can you see the picture? There is oil leaking from where the boot is on the right side where the wires come out of it? What kind of oil is that? and where do I get parts?
Please help Im a woman in distress... - MustangGTExplorerA/C shut-off sensor/switch for low freon is my vote.
